Death
[edit]None of the footnoted refernces to the autopsy refer to muliple organ failure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.84.32.179 (talk) 22:11, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Does anyone know exactly how he crashed? One news agency reported he hit a stone wall, but the road where he feel looks almost flat. Was he riding in a group at the time? 82.19.201.206 (talk) 17:35, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
- Current reports are that he was looking over his shoulder to the cyclists behind him when he hit the wall with his pedal and was flung across the road. Although being a relative flat course it was the descent of the only climb of that day on the Passo del Bocco. --Korneel (talk) 21:28, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
Nearly all reports I've read and seen state that he went over the barrier and fell 20m. If this is not the case it still warrants mention that "contrary to earlier reports he did not fall to the road below". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.9.151.254 (talk) 01:53, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Helmet
[edit]Weylandt was wearing a helmet made by Bontrager, model Oracle, as all professional road cyclists have been obliged to do since 5 May 2003 when a UCI rule was introduced. Shall this be understood as that all professional cyclists are obliged to wear the Bontrager/Oracle helmet? Or is it only that all are obliged to wear a helmet? The latter seems more probable, but I might well be wrong. If I'm right, though, the paragraph should probably be rewritten to clarify. Fomalhaut76 (talk) 10:41, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
- Helmets are compulsory, the brand isn't. Lots of brands and designs are worn. SeveroTC 11:17, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
